✓ Allowed in checked baggage under the following conditions: each passenger may carry up to 2 kg or 2 liters of aerosol products in total (including perfumes, colognes, alcohol-based medicines, etc.). Each individual item must not exceed 0.5 kg or 0.5 liters.

! Important: The spray bottle must have a cap or other protective cover to prevent accidental release of its contents.

✓ Allowed in checked baggage.

! Maximum allowed per passenger: 5 liters in original, unopened bottles.

! Restrictions on pyrotechnic trigger mechanisms:

  • Must not contain more than 200 mg of Division 1.4S explosives and/or more than 250 ml of compressed gas classified as Division 2.2.

  • Must be packed securely to prevent accidental activation. Airbags inside the backpacks must have pressure relief valves.

! Cartridge attachment:

  • The cartridge must be attached to the backpack.

  • There is no size limit for the cartridge containing Division 2.2 gas, as long as it is intended for use with the backpack.

! Spare cartridges:

  • Separate spare cartridges are generally not allowed unless they are small cylinders containing Division 2.2 gas without subsidiary hazards.

  • Each spare cylinder's water capacity must not exceed 50 ml (for carbon dioxide, a 50 ml cylinder corresponds to a 28 g cartridge).

  • A maximum of 4 such spare cartridges per passenger is permitted.

! Avalanche rescue backpacks with electric fans:

  • If powered by a lithium-ion battery installed in the backpack, these devices are considered consumer electronics.

  • They are allowed following the lithium-ion battery regulations.

Batteries

✓ Allowed in carry-on baggage with certain restrictions.

✗ Not allowed in checked baggage.

Lithium batteries are classified as dangerous goods and their transport is restricted. They may only be carried in limited quantities for personal use.

Whenever possible, please keep your portable electronic devices (PEDs) containing lithium batteries in your carry-on baggage. If you must pack a device with a lithium battery in checked baggage, ensure that the device is:

  • Completely switched off and protected against accidental activation.

  • Safely packaged or placed in a sturdy bag cushioned with soft items like clothing to prevent damage.

  • Not packed together with flammable items such as perfumes or aerosols.

Restrictions on lithium batteries:

✓ Lithium metal batteries containing up to 2 grams of lithium (e.g., cameras) and lithium-ion batteries up to 100 watt-hours (e.g., mobile phones, laptops) are allowed in both checked and carry-on baggage (carry-on is recommended) when installed in a device.

✓ Spare lithium metal batteries containing up to 2 grams of lithium and lithium-ion batteries up to 100 watt-hours may be carried only in carry-on baggage.

! Lithium-ion batteries over 100 watt-hours but under 160 watt-hours (e.g., video cameras, portable medical devices), installed in devices and/or up to 2 spare batteries, are permitted.

✗ Lithium metal batteries containing more than 2 grams of lithium, and lithium-ion batteries over 160 watt-hours (e.g., large power banks and car batteries) are prohibited in both checked and carry-on baggage.

✗ Recalled or damaged batteries, or those not manufactured following proper quality standards, are also prohibited in both checked and carry-on baggage.

! Smart bags:
If you are traveling with a smart bag, the lithium battery must be removed before the bag can be checked in. If the battery cannot be removed, the bag is not allowed as checked baggage.

! Carrying spare batteries:
The battery's electrical terminals must be protected from contact with metal objects or other batteries to prevent short circuits. The best way to do this is by keeping batteries in their original packaging. If that is not available, cover the terminals with tape. Another option is to place each battery in a separate plastic bag to isolate the terminals.
